Once you are the proud new owner of an air conditioning unit, you may start to hear the words “Service contract” and “Deep clean”. Rest assured, this is not designed to be “just another chargeable service”, it is to protect your equipment and to lengthen its lifespan!
Here at Phoenix ACR, we have a comprehensive aftercare service, and we never stop trying to do our best by you! We encourage all our customers to sign up for a maintenance contract so that you can rest assured that your kit is in the best hands. There are varying levels of maintenance, including routine servicing and deep cleaning.
What happens during a standard routine service?
During a standard routine service visit, we take 20 minutes per unit, and we advise that this takes place at least once every 6 months. Unfortunately, this is not something that an untrained individual can carry out, as it is not as simple as just cleaning the air filters. Whilst completing your service, we carry out a comprehensive list of checks.
We clean the indoor and outdoor air filters and heat exchanger as well as clean the fascia and the condensate pipe. We also carry out comprehensive checks including but not limited to; modes of operation, fan bearings, indoor and outdoor earth continuity and electrical insulation, pipe supports, fan motors, compressor oil levels and casings for corrosion. On top of this, we also record operating data and carry out leak tests on connections and coils.
This ensures that your unit is running to its full potential, and drastically reduces the chances of your equipment breaking down on you, resulting in call out charges and fault finding. Signing up with a Planned Preventative Maintenance Contract means that you get reminders when it’s time for us to attend site for servicing, and you also receive a 15% discount on standard servicing prices, with the cost per unit becoming cheaper the more units that you have. Having a PPM Contract also means that you receive a further discount on any callouts, and on any parts ordered.
What happens during a deep clean?
Many people think that a deep clean shouldn’t be required if routine servicing is carried out, or that this should in fact be included in the package. A deep clean is essentially where we will strip down the entire unit and clean the parts individually with specialist chemicals to restore them (almost) to brand new. This is required because despite routine maintenance bi-annually, there will be tough dirt and grime build up that will accumulate beyond what a normal service covers.
The good news is that, as ever, you get great value for money! We spend between 2-3 hours per system on a deep clean compared to 20 minutes on a standard service. We will of course ensure we carry out our standard checks as well, and we leave you with a system that can be restored back to optimum performance.
The benefits of having a deep clean are not limited just to having a “well-oiled machine” but have many health and energy bonuses too!
- Lower energy bills – a clean unit is a happy unit! A clean and efficient unit will make temperature much quicker than a neglected one, meaning its job is done quicker, and you save money on your electricity bill.
- Reduced cases of air-related illness – with a clean system, with specialist chemicals used that inhibit allergens, bacteria and COVID, you can rest assured knowing that you have the best possible air quality. Air conditioning units also act as dehumidifiers, which can reduce the chances of mould, and any related illnesses. This is even more common in more urban areas where the air quality is lower.
It is important to carry out preventative maintenance on your systems in order to keep your extended supplier warranty. If the supplier suspects that damage has occurred due to neglect of the kit, then they may refuse to cover parts and repairs that would otherwise have been covered under your warranty. With a PPM contract, you can let us worry about the upkeep of your system and have no worries where this is concerned!
